Sea and air transport |
Introduction: |
Sea-air transport is also known as Air-bridge Service. In terms of transportation organization, air bridge transportation is different from land bridge transportation. Land bridge transportation uses the same container during the entire freight process and does not need to be reloaded. The goods transported by air bridge are usually exchanged into air containers at the airport.
This form of intermodal organization is mainly by sea, but the final delivery transportation section is borne by air. At present, the international sea and air transport lines are:
(1) Far East to Europe: The routes between the Far East and Europe include Vancouver, Seattle, Los Angeles as transit points, and Hong Kong, Bangkok, Vladivostok as transit points. There are also transit destinations in San Francisco and Singapore.
(2) Far East to Central and South America: In recent years, the sea-air transport from the Far East to Central and South America has developed rapidly. Because the ports and inland transport here are unstable, the demand for air-sea transport is great. The intermodal line uses Miami, Los Angeles, and Vancouver as transit points.
(3) Far East, Middle East, Africa, and Australia: This is a transit service that uses Hong Kong and Bangkok as transit points to the Middle East and Africa. Under special circumstances, there are also intermodal routes via Marseille to Africa, Bangkok to India, and Hong Kong to Australia, but the freight volume of these routes is small.
